About me

My name is Bethany Thornton and I am a qualified and BACP registered and accredited counsellor based in Stafford.

Why I Became a Counsellor

Several years ago I decided to make a change in my career and become a counsellor. I had been volunteering as a Citizens Advice Bureau Generalist Advisor and found that helping people find a way through their problems was very rewarding, however some of the clients wanted to talk more in-depth about how they were feeling and the emotional problems they faced. This inspired me to take a new direction and I decided to commence counselling training. Whilst studying I realised that I had made the right decision and felt like a ‘round peg in a round hole’ - that I could use my compassion and empathy for others to help make a real difference in people’s lives.

I began working one-to-one with clients in a Primary Care setting where I gained significant experience counselling clients with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, low self-esteem, abuse, bullying, domestic violence, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, relationship issues and bereavement. Since then I have continued to work with clients in my own counselling practice.

As a qualified counsellor It has been my privilege to be a companion for many people as they have embarked on a journey of healing where discoveries of understanding, discernment and compassion have brought them to a better and brighter place.
